Took a brief break from the spooky this weekend to lead an Afternoon Tea etiquette class today 🫖🥄 Even my littlest guy can get behind the idea of a tiered tea tower of treats 🍰

Few quick tea tips:
🥄 It is actually called Afternoon Tea not High Tea…High Tea is traditionally a larger, heavier meal, more like dinner
🥄 Stir your tea from top to bottom, also known as 12 o clock to 6 o clock, not in round circles which can clank the tea cup
🥄 Your spoon should rest on the back of your saucer when not in use
🥄 Pinkies are actually down, not up😊

Join us Wednesday, November 9th at 5:30 pm for my signature 4-course social and dining etiquette class tailored for children ages kindergarten through high school. I’m just always so impressed when companies invest in their young employees and emerging leaders with opportunities like this for immediate applicable skills to distinguish yourself professionally.

We had quite a full room today and I didn’t get any video because…teaching. But I have a wonderful respect for Aspiria for investing in their workplace community 👏

One big tip to them all - Google yourself and make sure you are in control of your online image.

One more little table setting tip:
“Fork” has 4 letters just like “Left” (the side they are placed)
“Spoon” and “Knife” have 5 letters just like “Right”(again, the side they are placed:)

This holds true for most common day-to-day knife, spoon and fork table settings.

Just a lovely, cozy set up for a business etiquette dining class the other evening!

Among many things, we discussed airplane etiquette too for all the business flyers. I shared a few stories, I know we all have them! So on this holiday weekend ahead for all of you traveling by air:
- The person in the middle seat gets both arm rests (Southwest flyers nodding heads).
- Keep shoes and socks on unless you have a clean pair of socks to put on in flight. No bare feet.
- Headphones. Always headphones.
- Have an issue with another passenger? Kindly ask the flight attendant to handle. Don’t handle yourself:)
- Always offer a “please” and “thank you”

Spent a few days away at the breathtaking @sanysidroranch 🌺 and arrived back in time for an evening children’s dining etiquette class full of eager cuties 🍽 They are sometimes a little timid walking in, but once they realize they are in for a 4-course meal with dessert, the room gets a lot louder with excitement 😊

I felt the same way when I had the chance to sample champagne and caviar during my stay…Did you know caviar should never be served with a metal utensil or bowl? It can alter the taste of the caviar. Place a small spoonful of caviar on the toast and top lightly with the accompaniments if you wish. Some purists eat it directly off the back of their hand 🤚 vodka on the side optional 😁

I was discussing how ladies should always drink out of the same part of the glass rim (to avoid a lipstick ring the whole way around the glass) and a guest said, “except for a salted margarita of course.” Touché 😉 Happy cinco de Mayo 🎉

Table Setting Tip - Love the placement of this napkin…not underneath the utensils.🍴To avoid having your guests have to rearrange their utensils, place the napkin on top of the plate or to the left of the utensils, or wherever else creative:) Always nice for utensils to remain in place when the napkins go in the lap.

This fraternity house mom knocked it out of the park setting up a dining etiquette class I conducted the other night for the fraternity gentlemen! Lucky guys to have Mama Sara looking out for their personal and professional polish in life 👏

So many good questions out of these gentlemen, they kept me on my toes! My all time favorite is teaching a group the trick for knowing which is your bread plate and which is your drink and seeing faces light up😊
